4th of July Weekend

Daniel got to come home for the 4th of July weekend because his work needed him to pick something up here in Utah = FREE TRIP!

We celebrated Daniel's dad's birthday on July 3rd and then headed out to Roy to hang with my grandparents and relatives for the holiday. There was, as always, lots of game playing:

On the 4th of July we started out the day with the world-famous Hooper parade! Daniel and I were very excited that Popsicles were being thrown out. Score!

My cousins Tyler and Callie got to decorate and then ride their bikes in the parade. So cute!

In the after noon we went with grandma to see the movie Monte Carlo, which was pretty cute. Then, we played Scrabble outside (Daniel beat both me and grandma) and just relaxed for a while. In the evening, we went over to my aunt Stacy's house and had a barbecue. Daniel got a little caught up playing with my little cousins in a squirt gun war. I'm not sure who won...

Finally, we ended the evening with fireworks. As usual, I had my ipod on over my ears so that I couldn't hear the fireworks, only see them. We had a fantastic 4th of July!

My Birth Story--Riley James Faulk

A warning in advance--this is really long and detailed, so if you don't want to read a detailed birth story (with pictures), then stop now! This was an important record for me to make and I didn't want to spare any details. :) Technically the story of my labor begins on Riley’s due date: July 24, 2013. Because I have to go back to school as a teacher very soon (my first meeting is August 14), I was desperate to see if I could use some “natural” methods to get the labor going. So, on Wednesday, July 24 around ten in the morning I took about 1.5 ounces of castor oil, which is known to get labor kick started occasionally by basically freaking out your bowels so you have the runs—lovely. I waited for a few hours but nothing happened at all. Bummer. My mother and sister came to Salt Lake and we celebrated Pioneer Day by going to temple square and having lunch at the Lion House. So I Was in a Show...

When I got back from Dubai, I was B-O-R-E-D. I was looking for work (since my time at Ecker Hill Middle School ended when the normal teacher came back from sick leave) and nothing was coming up. I was a stay at home wife. Not cool. So, I decided to audition for a musical-- Lucky Stiff . It was my first audition in the Salt Lake Valley. I doubted I would get in the first show I auditioned for since I knew no one in this part of Utah and I assumed it was probably even more competitive than in Provo. Regardless, I went for it...and got the lead female role! I was shocked, not only that I had got cast as a lead but also that I got cast as the ingenue! I tried to think back to all the parts I had previously played and I could not think of one role that would be considered an ingenue role. We Bought a Couch...

Well, we've officially made the move from a basement apartment in Midvale to a rented condo on Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City....and we're loving it! The only problem is that our new apartment is pretty unfurnished. We never really liked our old brown sectional, although it was our first "big" purchase as a married couple so I guess it had some sentimental value. Regardless, we decided to try and sell it to people who came through to look at our apartment when it was up for rent. Luckily, someone bought it! This was very exciting to us, but we quickly realized when we moved in to our new place that we now had no where to sit and watch movies or snuggle or just relax after work. Well, it's been almost 3 weeks and we are still only watching movies in bed on a tiny TV. The GOOD news is, we ordered a couch! It should be here in about 4 weeks. Now that we have picked out a couch, we still need to get: 1. Rug 2. Coffee Table 3. Side tables 4...
